Eggshells As Fertilizer

Picture
Eggshells contain significant amounts of calcium, some magnesium & various amino acids, which are essential for human consumption. Previously it was easy to obtain these in a proper diet, but today our soil is simply depleted and can no longer provide these essential minerals to plants.

What I do to replenish the soil in my garden and fill my garden greens with the minerals I need is the following: I save all the eggshells I obtain, crush them up into a powder, and bury them right underneath my plants. This acts as great non toxic fertilizer, allows me to use the entire part of an animal product, and scores me green brownie points for composting! (Or is it green kale points? You decide)

Sometimes I even utilize the water from the eggs I boil, cool it down, and use it to water my house plants. They love it and you can visibly see the difference in their health when I use this trick. Their leaves become stronger and more lush and do not shed as much during hot and dry climates.

These are two very simple tricks that create amazing results in your garden and in your health.

What a great idea! I've been saving the shells bc I know it could be used for gardening but I never thought about crushing them into a powder. Also reusing the boiled water? GREEN GENIUS!!!
